Bio
Rex Deng is an accomplished guitarist and composer hailing from Sydney, Australia. His musical journey has taken him across continents and genres, with a career spanning over 20 years. For the past 15 years, Rex was based in Taiwan and toured extensively across Asia as a musician and producer. During this time, he collaborated with top musicians, including Grammy and Emmy winners, and best-selling artists.
Rex has guided more than 200 students in their musical development, making a significant impact on their musical journeys. Last year, he relocated back to Sydney, bringing his rich experience and passion for music to a new audience. Rex aims to inspire and nurture the next generation of musicians in Sydney, sharing his knowledge and love for music with all who are eager to learn.
Career Highlights:
- 2007-2009: Served as a tenor choir singer and guitarist for Formosa Singers in Taiwan.
- 2010: Nominated for the 45th Golden Bell Award in the category of “Best Film Music.”
- 2010: Became a fingerstyle guitarist and ambassador for Lee Guitars.
- 2011: Joined KOYAMA Ukulele as an ambassador.
- 2012: Formed the band ZAMAR as the lead singer and guitarist.
- 2013: Established Epidro Music Studio in Taiwan, focusing on guitar instruction, arrangement, advertising scoring, and television/film scoring.
- 2014: Won 1st place in the “Iron Rose” band competition in Taiwan with ZAMAR.
- 2015: Won 1st place in the “New Taipei City Aboriginal” band competition in Taiwan with ZAMAR.
- 2021: Formed the guitar duo YAHDDY, released the album “ZAMAR.”
- 2022: “ZAMAR” won “Best Instrumental Album” at the Global Music Awards.
- 2023: Released the single “GRACE.”
- 2024: Released the single “LILY OF THE VALLEY.”
Achievements:
Rex has recorded over 300 songs for Mandopop singers and performed as the opening act for various artists in venues ranging from intimate settings to arenas with up to 50,000 attendees. His work includes composing ad music, film scores, and television themes, and he has performed at numerous music festivals such as the World Music Festival, Iron Rose Music Festival, Hohaiyan Rock Festival, and Taiwan Music Festival. Rex has collaborated with top musicians around the world, including Grammy winners, Emmy winners, and best-selling artists. With more than 17 years in the industry, his extensive experience and talent make him a sought-after musician and educator.
Teaching:
Rex speaks fluent English and Mandarin, making him accessible to students who speak either language. He continues to inspire new generations of musicians through his teaching and creative projects.
