North Sydney Flute Studio provides superior flute pedagogy to music students of all ages in the form of one-on-one private tuition. In a supportive environment, students have the opportunity to receive expert guidance from internationally acclaimed flautists David Silva and Jonathan Henderson, working to help each individual reach their musical goals.
Students of North Sydney Flute Studio can observe others’ lessons and participate in advanced group performance classes, while masterclasses with invited guest artists gives valuable exposure to different teaching styles. Our flexible schedule includes after-school, weekend and holiday lessons. Our studio is located on Blues Point Road, a few minutes walk from North Sydney train station and the Victoria Cross metro.

My son has been so lucky to learn from Jonathan and David for the past 3 years and he is currently doing Grade 8. I’ve been learning the flute with David and Jonathan, and I feel really lucky to have them as my teachers. They teach with so much care and patience, and I truly enjoy every lesson. They’re not just great teachers—they’re like good friends who really care about their students. They’ve helped me improve a lot, not just with flute technique, but also with how to perform in concerts and competitions, and how to stay calm and confident. When I was preparing for my audition at the Conservatorium High School, they gave me so much support—and I got in! Over the past year, My Son Leo has often told me how much he enjoys his flute lessons and how kind and supportive his teacher is. He always feels relaxed during class thanks to the friendly atmosphere and the teacher's approachable manner. The instructors at the flute school are highly professional, and both David and Jonathan have extensive experience in flute education. They are able to accurately identify areas where Leo needs improvement and guide him in a clear and professional way. After more than a year of study, Leo has made significant progress in both his technical skills and overall performance level. He now plays with greater confidence, and most importantly, he genuinely enjoys learning the flute. He has also become a flutist in the school band and increasingly finds joy in the music he creates. With a thoughtful blend of tailored technical exercises and repertoire pieces, the tuition has been delivered with high level skill, observation and friendliness. The last one is really important for effective teaching! David and Jonathan are not just exceptional musicians. They're great teachers. The North Sydney Flute Studio holds masterclasses and performance classes for students and flautists. As a bonus, lessons take place in a heritage listed building with nice acoustics and two minutes from coffee shops in North Sydney and McMahons Point, buses and North Sydney Railway Station.
