Bio

I have been teaching violin and viola privately for 30+ years. I also play professionally with orchestras and small ensembles in a variety of genres including orchestral (The Metropolitan Orchestra, Bourbaki etc), Musicals, Weddings etc.

I have been a High school Music teacher with long experience teaching Music 1, 2 and Extension for HSC. I have also tutored for HSC in composition, aural and performance. I have been the Director of String Programs in my schools, including orchestra, string ensembles and quartets.

Teaching Info

Lessons are usually broken up into a) technical and skills building, b) ways to practice c) problem solving pieces and d) playing for enjoyment and performance preparation. I aim to teach students to think for themselves and have a strong emphasis on how to create a musically pleasing performance through discussion and exploration of ideas so the student can build the skills necessary to achieve their potential. I firmly believe performance success is also about mental preparation and have various exercises to help overcome performance anxiety.
